My family and I are looking for a situation that would have housing for us and allow us to gain experience over the next couple of years then allow us to take over or buy out the ranch. We are a dedicated, hard working, and fast learning family.

I’m a small vegetable grower and my wife and I are looking to transition into a sustainable farming situation.  We are looking for about 20 acres for rotational vegetables (4 to 5 acres under crop).  Land must have a water source, year-round creek, spring or a well or an aquifer that produces a minimum of 20gpm 24/7/365. I will buy and build all needed structures.  Vegetable land must be fertile soil (120 bushels of corn an acre in accordance with USDA Soil Conservation database). We look forward to discussing possible opportunities with any landowner. Looking at the following counties: Adams, Bedford, Blair, Cumberland, Franklin, Fulton, Huntingdon, Juniata, Mifflin, and Perry.

We are both veterans of the Iraq war and recently discharged from the U.S. Army. We envision a diversified organic farm where we will provide meat, vegetables, fruits, and dairy products for our CSA customers. It is important to us to preserve heritage breeds of livestock and rare heirloom varieties of vegetables, and we hope to one day become a source of seed and herd sires. We hope to conduct much of the work with draft animals, as this will save costs on equipment purchase and repair as well as provide a marketing draw for customers to visit the farm. We have experience working on a guest horse-and-cattle ranch in the Rocky Mountains, and we envision operating educational farm tours on the property, culminating in something like a bed-and-breakfast, youth camp, or apprenticeship program for beginning farmers, depending on the facilities available on the property. Our ideal farm would include reliable year-round water, a few acres of woodlot, more in fenced pasture and hayfield.

We are seeking a rent or rent to own option, ideally with a retiring dairy farmer.  We’d like to find a farm that is currently milking and has housing on the property. We operated our own dairy for 5 years and did everything ourselves. We milked, raised our heifers and grew crops. But due to lack of tillable land to grow our own crops and high feed prices, we sold our milking herd. When we were milking, quality milk and animal care were our top priorities. We pride ourselves on being excellent stewards of the animals and land.

I was raised on a farm and enjoy living off the land and working with animals. I am also energetic and have good mechanical skills and am able to fix my own machinery. I also fix others machinery and help them out. I am seeking to have a profitable farming operation with rotational grazing and possibly a creamery. My family and I are positive and open minded and would work together on the farm. We have also completed the Ag Biz Masters course.
